Recovery is essential. Athletes know this and yet for some reason, us mere mortals think we can just keep on pushing through. And yet the cognitive demands of being asked to regurgitate 11 years of schooling over an intense few weeks make year 11 like sprinting mental marathons.
Sleep often becomes harder to find when under pressure, particularly if you’re doing a lot of mental work as the mind keeps processing and sorting all night. But rest, that can really help.
If you can, get into bed for 10 minutes when you get home and take a nap. Don’t keep pushing on through. All the best people nap. There’s a ton of research on it somewhere. But trying it for yourself learning what works for you is best.
