Finding Space in December: A Gently Rebellious Guide
Dec 08, 2024
December often feels like a whirlwind. There’s the wrapping up of work projects, family and travel plans to finalise, and a mounting list of festive tasks that can make even the most organised among us feel frazzled. Amid all this, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters—you.
But what if you approached this season differently?
The Need for Space
When we think about creating space, it’s easy to imagine a gap in the schedule—a carved-out moment that we protect fiercely. But what happens when that much-anticipated space is invaded by guilt, endless to-dos, or the weight of unmet expectations? True space isn’t just a break in your calendar; it’s an internal shift.
Space is a feeling. It’s a sense of ease, freedom, and alignment. It’s about feeling like there’s room for you in your own life.
How to Create Space
This week on the podcast, I shared some practical ways to gently rebel against the pressure and create space from the inside out. It starts with noticing where you feel squished or stretched too thin. Often, simply recognising this without judgment is enough to spark a shift.
One way to reconnect with yourself is to ground your attention in your body. Try noticing your feet on the floor, allowing your belly to soften, and your shoulders to relax. From here, you can invite a feeling of spaciousness to fill every cell of your body. It’s a small practice, but one that can ripple out to transform your day.
