Transforming the tricky stuff into the opportunity to find more freedom to be yourself.

Episode 202 of the Overwhelm is Optional podcast: Transforming Branding into a Journey of Authentic Self-Discovery with Emily Rosales

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the power of deciding to see something as for me, regardless of what it is.

And this week I recorded a really rich conversation with the lovely Emily Rosales, a fellow coach who specialises in branding.

One of the most difficult things I found myself apparently needing to do when I set up my business was create a brand. I really didn’t see that one coming! Why on earth would I want to do such a crazy thing? Linked to a whole lot of fears about being visible on social media...and paralysing thought bombs containing questions such as 'who am I? ' and 'who are you to be doing this?'...

Having eventually accepted that this advice was indeed helpful if I wanted people to be able to find me, I proceeded through the usual struggle with imposter syndrome and feeling like it all felt horribly embarrassing and not really ‘me’ at all.

The rollercoaster of trying to find a way to be visible (without adding to anyone’s overwhelm or feelings of inadequacy) in a way that felt energising and ‘me’ wasn’t much fun. Until I decided (obviously) to gently, but firmly, rebel against the nonsense that there’s one correct way and that I was doing it wrong. (If you've ever experienced the delight of ‘helpful’ messages with screenshots of your website telling you that basically there’s a million things wrong with it (especially just after you’ve redone it) then you’ll know what I mean!)

In this week’s podcast episode we combine our approaches and talk about turning branding into an opportunity for personal growth, instead of a painful and frustrating exercise in trying to guess how to pass an exam without clear questions, set by the invisible internet branding police.

Whether you’re in business or not, I invite you to consider popping on the gently rebellious lens of ‘what if this was for me?’ and seeing if you can magically turn everything into a rich experience for finding more freedom to be yourself.

If you're done with the struggle to create branding and messaging that feels good to you and connects with the people you long to work with, this week's episode is especially for you.

It's also for you if you'd like to be a fly on the wall whilst two coaches discuss how to turn the tricky stuff into finding more freedom to be yourself.

And if you’d like to see our lovely faces you can watch the episode here.

Enjoy!
