The Transformative Power of the Mind-Body Connection
Aug 25, 2024Step 3 of The Gentle Rebel Way is to commit to developing a fit body:
- Accept responsibility for your health
- Prioritise learning how to look after yourself properly
- Start listening to your body
- Treat it with love and respect
- Eat what nourishes it
- Rest before you become exhausted
- Sleep
- Move
- Laugh, play and have fun
This is an invitation to create the energy and wellness you crave by dropping the usual overwhelm of The Self Care Pressures (current popular ones include: do Zoe, eat 30 different plants a day, mediate, do yoga, journal, run, lift weights, don’t eat sugar or upfs, develop a different mindset…you know the drill).
There’s so much advice that as one client reflected, if she did everything she was supposed to do she wouldn't actually have any time to live.
The tyranny of The Self Care Pressures is very real. And it can feel like the kind of overwhelm you really ought to keep - as it’s supposed to be good for you.
The Gentle Rebel Way invites you to take responsibility for yourself and find what works best for you, at this season in your life, releasing the pressure to discover the one right solution for all time. It doesn’t exist because you change and so do your circumstances.
And then to get out of your head (ironically this is where I end up spending far too much time whenever my body is shouting for my attention) and listen. To be in constant, compassionate dialogue with your body.
Sara Parrode, The Portable Wellness Coach, shares how she does this in this week’s podcast episode. It’s a rich conversation based around my experience of walking The Camino de Santiago in a Gently Rebellious Way.
Listen or watch to find out more.
Have an unexpectedly lovely week.
