Dog poo and piles of rubble
Jul 21, 2024Where’s your attention right now?
Is it on dog poo and piles of rubble?
Or the beauty and the fun waiting to be had?
Wandering around my garden I notice all the things that are wrong with it. The dog poo that needs picking up, the pile of rubble that needs sorting; the weeds, fading flowers, overgrown branches, rotting fallen figs and the litter of unfinished projects.
My garden is beautiful. It is my pride and joy, my hard worked-for dream; my nourishment and solace; space to be still and active.
But as my human mind’s default mode is to search for trouble, it is easy for me to become overwhelmed by all the things that ‘need’ doing and to miss the stuff that is already here.
The overwhelm and the ease coexist. The list of stuff that could be changed and the list of stuff that is already here to make you smile coexist. The doom and heartbreak in the world coexist with peace and laughter.
Where you place your attention and how, creates your experience moment to moment.
And these moments make up your life.
Where’s your attention right now?
Dog poo and piles of rubble or beauty and fun waiting to be had?
Wishing you an Unexpectedly Lovely Day.
